Voxeo Labs was in attendance at SunnyConf, Arizona’s first Ruby conference, this weekend.  The event needed an application to time the speakers on their talks.  Surprisingly no apps could be found on GitHub or elsewhere to meet the needs of the conference – so we whipped one up for them!

This app was written in Ruby and Sinatra in less than an hour and offers a basic full screen count down of the minutes you set for the limit of the talk.  Once the time is reached, the app flashes in red notifying the speaker and organizers that their time limit has been reached.

The SunnyConf conference was a huge success and no speakers ran over their allocated time spots.  We were glad to help!  Perhaps we should next add Voice, SMS, IM, and Twitter support to this timer.  What do you think?
